Actually, Atkins diet is a high fat not a high protein diet, so eating extremely lean proteins like skinless chicken or lean fish is counterproductive. If you do purchase those meats, you need to add additional fats to it like mayonnaise. You are allowed sugar free drinks, but are limited to three sweeteners per day. Fast food can be made fine you do need eliminate any breads, breading, sauced items, etc. Hey, I recently went to a cardiologist and he started me in a new diet. Basically no carbs from bread,sugar etc. He said eat lots of vegetables and lean meats like fish and turkey and lots of water. This sounded just like the atkins diet so i found this video and your comment said to get lots of fats too. so should i eat steaks or something with lots of saturated fat or keep the lean meat and cook it with healthy oils like olive oil or moderation of both. There are lots of different options for meat. Look at my recipe videos for videos marked with (IF) in the title, and those are Induction friendly. There are lots of different options or cuisines featured in those videos from Mexican to Barbecue to Asian to German to American. There is no danger to saturated fats, so feel free to consume those as well.

I hope you have as much as success as we did. 150+ cholesterol is still way too high. we should aim for 70 total cholesterol. you will lose weight on pretty much any diet, but you have to see how it affects your health in the long run. high fat low carbs isn't the long term answer you are looking for.I would challenge you to find one notable cardiologist or peer reviewed study to recommend cholesterol levels that low. Cholesterol is needed for most cellular function as our cellular structures are made mostly of cholesterol. As for long term health, my annual blood work, athletic performance, and how I feel prove you wrong. I understand you have moral reasons to be a vegan. The problem is that those aren't based in fact but beliefs.my bad i was listening to something while typing this. we need to have LDL lower than 70, with our total cholesterol under 150. cholesterol is needed indeed, but your body makes all the cholesterol you need. you don't have to add it from your diet. as for your long term health, it's called long term for something. we'll see in the long term. having "normal" bloodwork/cholesterol in a society where it's normal to die of a heart attack at 50 doesn't say much. and i'm vegan for the planet first. That is fact the body will make the cholesterol it needs and the vast majority of the serum cholesterol is from body sources and only miniscule about is from dietary sources. Said differently, it doesn't matter how much cholesterol you eat will not have a determinant on your total cholesterol. Eating 18 eggs a day will not raise your cholesterol at all. Add wheat to your diet (a known inflammatory), and it will raise rapidly. As for long term, that is a cop out. After nearly 10 years of eating low carb surely I would have seen deleterious effects. Otherwise, you are just playing a bogeyman. Show me a study that says people with cholesterol lower than 150 have less heart attacks than 175 or 200. Fact is some studies have shown more MIs in those with lower cholesterol than those with 200. As for being a vegan for the planet, I am glad. Your beliefs (misguided) lowers the demand and thereby the price for my meat.Here is just one study that the lowest percentile of cholesterol had the HIGHEST risk of heart disease. "Is the use of cholesterol in mortality risk algorithms in clinical guidelines valid? Ten years prospective data from the Norwegian HUNT 2 study." Among women, cholesterol had an inverse association with all-cause mortality as well as CVD mortality. The association with IHD mortality was followed a 'U-shaped' curve. Men followed a similar U-shaped curve (highest risk at ends). obviously you will be more healthy now than when you were 400+ pounds, but what does that really prove ? and how is being vegan for the planet misguided ? it takes over 10,000 liters of water to produce 1 pound of beef; most of the grains that could feed the world goes into animal production to feed the rich; animal production is known to be the number 1 sources of green house gases, water/soil pollution, etc. but do make an update video in another 10 years, i'm sure it will be interesting. Great story. I was wondering, eating this way, doesn't this increase your cholesterol level or how is your lab work. I have to lose 140 lb and borderline hypertension. I want to try this way of eating but I am nervous about lab work. Are you still doing Atkins? When I started my cholesterol was 198. After one year, my cholesterol dropped roughly 50 points to 153 while my HDL went higher. My borderline hypertension went away. I love the fact that people take my recipes and further develop on them to their own cooking environments, ingredients and tastes. As for dealing with the critics, we each have our things to bear, and I really try to provide answers to most as I know my viewers get the same critics and views thrust on them. If I can give them some ammunition to help their arguments, I am happy. When you eat low fat, your body will ask you to eat either high carb or high protein. And people tend to go to high carb foods because they are tasty. Who will refuse french fries and burgers? And not every person like to do exercise. On 2/1/13, for the last time, I FINALLY got serious about eating clean, 'paleo', low carb, high fat, I'm 5'1" female and about 240 right now (so about 100lbs to lose) and it feels SOOO overwhelming right now. I could use tips on (1) how to start working out [I can't do much but walk right now] & (2) are certain exercises better for low-carbers (to burn more fat, etc?).
Really working out is nothing more than being active and preferably outside. If that is walking to start, that's great. That is all I did when I first started. At first, I could only do about 10 minutes to start. Eventually I progressed to elliptical training and biking. I added weight training and eventually started running. Which one you pick should be more what is interesting to you. That may be Zumba, spinning, walking, aqua aerobics, or whatever appeals to you. The most effective thing is the thing you will do long term. Most weight loss will occur through the diet, but exercise is what will make your skin more tone, your muscles more defined, and your heart more healthy.
